  2. Unrelated to this post, I thought you might enjoy this video:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k7X7sZzSXYs

(After hearing your thoughts on relationships with nonvegan's on veganacious)

I think the video is nice besides veganism

I have a omnivore significant other and went into the relationship knowing it. You refrained from making analogies, but I was wondering, would be something like "Would you date a rapist or a racist?"

And to that I thought to the second? interview you had with Francione. I think he said something to the likes of "I'm not saying they're (omnivores) rapists, or they're racists, just that the actions they're taking are similar"

I had a (many actually) AR conversations with my SO and I think the way I thought of it was that if the person understood what they were doing (exploiting sentient animals) they wouldn't do it. Therefore, because they do it, they don't understand what they're doing.

If they're against exploiting humans than they should be against exploiting nonhumans. If there is some disconnect between the two, then they don't understand nonhuman animals.

Does that make any sense? What do you think?

*I'll probably post a more thoughtful post on the AbApro forums*

  3. Hey Pierce!

"if the person understood what they were doing (exploiting sentient animals) they wouldn't do it. Therefore, because they do it, they don't understand what they're doing. "

I think you are onto something there, and in reality I some way we must we all kind of know that or believe it somehow, or we wouldn't be doing what we are doing trying to talk to people about it, and knowing it works! It worked on us, we didn't understand, and when we began to understand, we stopped. So, I think you made a good point. I prefer to be by myself than in a relationship with someone who doesn't understand that, while talking to as many people as I can about it, but that's just me, and I know you are doing a good thing by helping your SO to understand, bit by bit...

    I loved the video

    thanks :-)
